Ancient forms and modern techniques – a castle at the turn to the 3rd millennium .

The basic idea was to create a kind of protecting cavern offering protection at the backside and fully opening to the front side . The house is entered over a functional modern drawbridge . The gigantic southern glass front not only offers the inhabitants a marvellous view of the opposite mountains with the glacier of mountain “Hasenörl” (over 3000 m) as central viewpoint, but also catches the heat of the sun, which is then circulating through the whole building thanks to a huge conservatory. Passive solar energy for warm water and for floor heating is won through solar panels, which are fixed on the southern slope at the border of the estate.
With furnishing the house it was very important to do without a “too much” of objects in order to emphasize the power of the space. The paintings are by famous Vinschgau artists; the painter Jörg Hofer from Laas placed special emphases .

The arrangement of the garden is also characterised by mere minimalism: wild aromatic herbs, mountain vegetation surrounding the pond, which can hardly be distinguished from a natural mountain lake due to a waterfall supplying it with water and the arrangement of uncut stones instead of huge walls and fences, such as bench and table of steel and stone instead of wooden romanticism.
